Rescue teams were put into action on 27th May 2026 after Gaurikund Police Station received a distress report that a body had been sighted in the river below Ghoda Padav in the Gaurikund area. Wasting no time, an SDRF team grabbed their rescue equipment and headed straight to the spot.
What followed was a textbook example of inter-agency coordination. A combined team drawn from SDRF, DDRF, and NDRF, led on the ground by Sub-Inspector Ashish Dimri, mounted a rapid and determined rescue operation in conditions that were anything but easy. The river terrain posed significant challenges, but the team pressed on with resolve and successfully recovered the unidentified body from the water.
Once retrieved, the body was formally handed over to the local police for further proceedings. Gaurikund Police Station has taken charge of the case and is actively working to establish the identity of the deceased, while legal formalities are being completed in parallel.
The prompt response and seamless cooperation between the three agencies once again underscored the readiness of Uttarakhand’s disaster response forces to act decisively when every minute counts.
